Net-Sports-4-Nets is a grassroots fundraising campaign that supports Netting Nations Inc., a Los Angeles based 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides mosquito nets to prevent malaria.
For the campaign, participants are encouraged to play a Net-Sport in an athletic tournament. What is a Net-Sport? Simple. A Net-Sport is ANY sport that uses a net! This includes some of the most popular sports in the world such as Basketball, Football (Soccer), Hockey, Volleyball, and Tennis. It also includes smaller sports such as Ping-Pong, Badmitton, Water Polo, Lacrosse, and fishing, and of course the more obscure one's like the popular sport Sepak Takraw from Thailand. As long as there is a net and it's fun, you can play and raise money for Netting Nations!
The nature of the tournament can be serious athletic competition, or simply for fun, depending on the intent of the organizers. In addition, by using our 501(C)3 status, tournament organizers may find healthy tax advantages. Be creative, the name of the game is having fun, buying nets, and saving lives!
Individual Participants and / or groups are encouraged to become Lifesavers. To reach the Lifesaver status participants must raise $150 or more. Why $150 you ask? Because according to United Nations statistics it costs $150 to save a life using mosquito nets. For every 30 nets distributed, which cost about $5 each, one child's life is saved! That's right, it only costs $150 to SAVE A LIFE! Remember 30 x 5 =1.
